https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/apr/23/hillary-clinton-trump-attack-criticism-pen-event-commentsWhen leaders deny things we can see with our own eyes, like the size of a crowd at the inauguration, when they refuse to accept settled science when it comes to urgent challenges like climate change it is the beginning of the end of freedom, and that is not hyperbole. Its what authoritarian regimes through history have done.

(10,845 posts)As she often is. The whole purpose of continuing propaganda in authoritarian regimes is to confuse the public until they cannot discern fact from fiction. In the extreme, the public simply gives up trying. And that's when we can all kiss our freedoms good-bye.
So no, it's not hyperbole.

(51,646 posts)It is one thing to say it on the news or on a tweet, but what they really think of the overall situation when alone with trusted people is what interests me. I feel some comfort when I listen to people who are familiar or have experience and knowledge beyond mine speak in sage terms. When they seem unbiased and look at the big picture of our country's future I try to relax a bit. Then I think about what they really think...in private. Are they as calm and sure that things will work out and things will eventually get back to normal as
they act in public? This seems to me like Hillary is not as sure about our country's future as the politicians who speak on the record and tell us that things will all be OK once the Dems are back in control again.
