(31,261 posts)bought in to the nonsense that was being said about Hillary. It is hard to view those DU members as I had before the 2016 primary. There were many DU members that were strong and sniffed out the bullshit from Day 1 and fought it tooth and nail, those people know who they are, I have bigtime respect for them, even when we disagree on issues.

(58,785 posts)As, of course, do the GOP, the occult Dark Money and other American right-wing operations, some American left-wing operations, and the Kremlin. (Whether Sanders should be accepting or vigorously rejecting this support and denouncing at least those things he recognizes as lies is for another discussion.)
The only question is who among all these this Goodman creep was and is specifically working with. He shoots from positions taken across the political spectrum, but always at the Democratic Party.
One point of great consistency is pushing the same pro-Russia themes, lies and evil-Democrats conspiracies RT does. Like RT, but also like anti-Democrats on the left, a major technique is to piggyback his attacks on the flood of expensive right-wing propaganda funded by domestic Dark Money forces. If he's paid by all of them, he's got a very good thing going.

(5,611 posts)there up on the stage for far too long drinking in the applause like some kind of old man rock star. His half-hearted behavior towards Hillary was definitely damaging, and we know now that Putin and co worked this split to their advantage.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)continually attacked by him in many ways and places as corrupt, which was his own main campaign theme, but also echoing and benefiting from the same enormously funded messages from the right.
Every time a majority voted for his opponent, he either insinuated or outright claimed the Democratic Party of that state and/or his opponent stole the election. He routinely threatened to file lawsuits, and in a number of states did abuse the courts by doing so. His suits were all dropped as media attention moved on, and of course always before the discovery phase would have proven each phony, one by one.
Btw, this despicable behavior didn't just do his nation tremendous harm. Many of his more vulnerable followers may never recover from the damage his poisonous lies that mainstream Democrats were corrupt did to their relatively fragile understanding. That was and is an enormous, incredibly callous betrayal of their trust. Leaders have a duty to take care of their followers, not burn them as fuel.

(31,261 posts)That no one mentioned the PUMAS from 2008, as some are wont to do. The difference between 2008 and 2016 is that Hillary campaigned her ass off for Barrack Obama and made it clear that there was not a better choice than him. She also did not carry the primary to the convention and get her supporters worked up.

People like Goodman had an impact. He simply delivered comfort food to a specific audience. Interestingly enough, that audience was being turned off from voting for one of the most progressive platforms in history. Thats the really screwed up part. We need to help our friends. Lets be real, if they were stupid enough to fall for this guy we should be able to properly talk down to them and get them on our side. Southern charm style.

(61,748 posts)Bernie Sanders was promoted by people and bots as part of a carefully orchestrated propaganda machine. The propaganda had a single goal: to install Donald Trump in the White House.
