UT-SEN: Utah Republican delegates force Mitt Romney into a primary election

Saturday’s state Republican Convention — which dragged on for more than eight hours mostly because of sometimes nasty and divisive bickering over rules — forced former-presidential-nominee-turned-U.S.-Senate-candidate Mitt Romney into a primary election with Mike Kennedy, a state senator.

Romney actually finished second in the conservative-dominated gathering, picking up 49.12 percent of the vote to Kennedy’s 50.18 percent.

Freshman Congressman John Curtis also faces a primary election.
