"Flip" vs "tell the truth" or "cooperate"

I hate the word flip as it's being used for legal stuff. It implies, imo, someone doing something wrong rather than "cooperating with the investigation rather than lying and obstructing".

It may be a minor point, but the emotional tone is different and we need to start using more accurate terms as it's not "doing something they said they wouldn't do", but "doing the legal and ethical right thing".

Thank you.

as if the Post is part of a screen play or something. Cooperate and testify truthfully both come across as descriptive without overdrama.

"Cooperate" makes them sound ethical, which they are not. "Flip" has to do with renouncing their loyalty.
