The largest wilderness area in the lower 48. I used to go years ago before
the Forest Service set up shop at the cliff dwellings. I'd hike up the east fork
and camp. Hot springs abound, trout and watercress to eat and magnificent scenery.
After a week or so I'd hike out and go have a few beers in Silver City.
I camped out just outside the Cliff dwellings a few months ago and hiked up the middle fork a few miles (lots of river crossings). Planning a 3 day backpacking trip for next month up to Jordan hot springs.
