Now Rosenstein is reassuring the guy that Mueller's investigation is not about him.
I'm getting mighty tired of this crap. Mighty tired.
Why do they keep doing this? Everybody and their momma know they're looking at him - or at least SHOULD be.
What the hell is going on?

(102,468 posts)Ignoring for the moment the issue as to whether or not a sitting President can be indicted or not, claiming Trump is NOT a target today means nothing in terms of changing that designation tomorrow, weeks, or months from now-- whenever DOJ was ready to do so.
Trump doesn't know the difference between a "subject" and a "target" and his legal team are likely intentionally not trying to educate him for fear of a "firing" freak out.

A witness is often just a witness. But a subject is often a potential target -- and will remain so, till a case against him is fully developed.

(5,210 posts)One explanation I saw by one of the many panelists on MSNBC a while back was that there are subjects that never become targets, subjects that may become targets, and subjects which most surely WILL become targets. I personally think Trump better be in the last category. Hell, there's enough circumstantial evidence to send 5 people to the electric chair (well, if they were capital crimes and I don't think they are, unless they can dredge up treason).

(2,404 posts)translates that into believing he is not under investigation. Maybe people tell him that to get him to shut up, not that it works, and put a temporary stop to the ranting.

(32,111 posts)The Department of Justice has strict guidelines on labeling people in its investigation. If they lie they can be disbarred. No DOJ attorney is going to do that.

(15,805 posts)Trump is the brass ring, the cherry on top, the grand prize, and the FBI will be checking, double checking and cross checking to make sure they get everything wrapped up perfectly before the day of the big reveal when they drop the bomb on Trump.
Also, by letting Trump think that he's free and clear after pulling off his monstrous hoax and flimflamming the stupid FBI, there's every likelihood that he'll do something even dumber.

(5,272 posts)hence he would technically not be considered a target that Mueller could charge with crimes. However even though many experts think Mueller cannot indict him, he can recommend charges to Congress for basis of impeachment.

But surely someone has mentioned to him that not being a target today doesn't mean he won't be a target tomorrow.
I mean, somebody over there has to have told him.
Right?
