the North Korea meeting that Trump wants to have.
i feel like Putin or someone/something else is behind it and it's not just about improving relations .
that Trump thinks he will get some trump tower or personal financial deal .
when was the last time he referred to Kim as Rocket Man ?
and Pompeo seems to be up in this shit also. with the russia and now north korea secret meeting.

(20,018 posts)Dump is liable to get played and give away the farm just so he can say "many people are saying it's the greatest deal ever, believe me."
I could see him agreeing to remove U.S. troops from the region in exchange for "denuclearization." So U.S. troops come home and shortly thereafter we find out that there was no "denuclearization" because there was insufficient verification, i.e. Lil' Kim just hid his shit until the Americans were gone, possibly with Pooty's help.

(143 posts)North Korea - Respect on the world stage as a country worth reckoning with. Also probably lifting of sanctions although I'm not sure about their actual total impact on North Korea.
US - Approval rating/ego boost/bragging rights to 45.
South Korea - Peace with the crazy armed neighbor and boosting of status as great negotiator on world stage.
China - Leverage for negotiations with US (they can support North Korea essentially by themselves).

(841 posts)From what I understand North Korea has small "free enterprise zones" where some degree of private business is allowed. I could see Trump cutting a backroom deal with Kim where Kim gets resources from us in exchange for business opportunities for Trump and other crony capitalists and it will be declared a great victory in promoting democracy and peace.
Nothing will be done about the weapons issues that will simply arise again the next time North Korea wants to blackmail us and our allies.

(143 posts)If 45 can't convincingly give the appearance (whether real or fake) that anything was done about Kim's nuclear arsenal, then he will be a permanently wet paper tiger. In addition to my previous post on this topic, I can't help but think any sort of deal would involve periodic, highly-publicized "shows of progress" to boost approval numbers like he tried to do for companies with the repub tax grift (probably save the biggest ones for about a week before the midterms and for a week before the 2020 election assuming the orange one makes it to then).

(11,885 posts)He'll say one thing, Bait, then say another sometimes within minutes of the opposite, the switch. He probably will say he maybe won't meet with Kim if his pattern stays the same. He always uses bait and switch, and lies for his PR . His claim someone met with NK may not even be true, or that trump's tweets are his, and he has others doing it for him. Nothing true comes from this administration, except when they screw up, then trump gets upset. trump has NO credibility on anything he says. Con men hate when that happens, people start catching onto your lies, and accusations towards others. Even if they meet with Kim nothing trump says will convince me anything he or Kim claims is true. Just like his claims he'd meet with Mueller, then switches giving excuse after excuse when he probably was never going to agree to an interview anyway. More excuses and lying.

(733 posts)the deal has been agreed upon. They don't say "it may work", "I'll walk away if it's bad" etc.
The summit is just the photo shoot.
So do you think that Trump and Kim have a deal already?
Pompeo's trip was just a pantomime of real diplomatic negotiations to make him and Trump look good.
