You can't make this up. As one of my local friends said "Actual dumpster fires are looking at Greitens and telling him he's lost control."

(58,785 posts)And now Missouri's most powerful Republicans are calling for him to step down. Behaving like a pit bull that can't be turned off may work for SEALs, though I doubt it would most of the time, but for sure it doesn't belong in public service.
Go, Senator Claire!

(58,785 posts)but Georgia's governor's race is becoming very interesting Our Democratic candidates are a black woman, Stacey Abrams, and a white woman, Stacey Evans. If either won, Georgia would have a liberal Democratic female governor (!), and Abrams would also be the first black woman governor in America. Close to a third of Georgians are black.
Their Republican opponent is a white male conservative, of course, but a relatively weak candidate. He's the kind of extreme socioreligious conservative who's so over-represented these days that media routinely misrepresent them as plain old conservatives. Unfortunately, he's a very common type for Georgia. He's the one who hit the national news recently for throwing a hissy and vowing to slam Delta (a giant in this state) with taxes if Delta stopped offering discounts to NRA members (a whole two or so of which had been claimed in the life of the program). This is also causing worry that he may have cost Atlanta Amazon's new headquarters.
No Greitens-Hawley, of course, but still ...

(29,676 posts)Maybe it was on the news? Or maybe it's because Michael McDonald, Mr. Yacht Rock himself, is originally from the area.
I had an old classmate who was so afraid her thirteen year old son was going to take off and join the protests in Ferguson when it all happened. She did not want her son to possibly become another statistic. We had several discussions about it at the time.
