"SNIP........
Every Republican House member from New Jersey is in danger of losing their seat in this years midterm elections, according to a new Monmouth University poll.
The survey released on Monday finds Democrats with a 19-point advantage statewide on the generic ballot, with 54 percent of respondents saying they plan to or are leaning toward voting for Democrats, compared to only 34 percent for Republicans.
Monmouth pollers say this puts all five of New Jersey's GOP-held seats at risk.
This is pretty astounding. Not only are New Jersey Democrats doing better on the generic House ballot statewide, but the shift is coming almost entirely from districts currently held by the GOP, said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. If these results hold, we could be down to just one or two or maybe even zero Republican members in the state congressional delegation after November.

(13,305 posts).....good to hear I suppose, but I've not always been happy with our state's Democratic party or the Democrats that make it to office.
Obviously I'd still rather have Dems than Republicans in office, but my expectations as to what will actually get done, even with a full Democratic state house are tempered to say the least.
I would hope that at the very least Murphy would be able to get marijuana decrim/legalization through like he wants to. But I'd venture to say that even with every single office in the state in Democratic hands we still wouldn't see the millionaires tax he wants to go through (and should go through in order to refill the pension coffers that have been decimated over the past 20 years in the state (yes, even under Corzine).
But make no mistake about it....I will take it. And I will be happy about it.

(1,897 posts)However, the districts favor the status quo. LoBiondo's district will likely flip democratic. It will go to a conservative democrat, but a democrat nonetheless. Chris Smith is not getting voted out. Tom McArthur is not getting voted out. Lance will be close, but he's not getting voted out. Freylinghuysen's former district will be close and might just flip. Those are the 5 republicans. Definitely going to four, might go to three. I'm going to work hard to elect a democrat in my district, but I'm still going to be stuck being represented by a republican. NJ's democratic districts are VERY democratic. Three of the five republican districts are VERY republican. Two districts are in play.
