When a lawyer on an active case asked for a day off to attend a bris (a Jewish religious ceremony) -- if the grandchild that was expected turned out to be a boy -- she had an unusual response.
She penned a note on the bottom of the lawyers type-written letter. (Pictured at the link.)

(129,978 posts)DU might recall her being caught up in "nanny-gate" when President Bill Clinton nominated her for AG (after Zoe Baird was torepdoed for her Nanny choice), despite doing what she was supposed to (but her employee was still undocumented). The job eventually went to Janet Reno.
So she goes way back.... but be aware of what might happen out of RW world regarding her.

(17,984 posts)I went to an Orthodox bat mitzvah, and, of course, the girl wasn't allowed to participate at all. No reading the haftorah, so no throwing candy. Nothing! It was like she didn't really exist. It was more depressing than happy.

(12,254 posts)She's fantastic. It was a trial for three defendants charged with fraud in real estate land share deals, for which the jury was dismissed several times for cracking up over the ridiculous defense arguments. Naturally, we convicted all three. She gave us careful instructions at the end and came back to visit with us after the verdict. Preet Bahara brought the case in Federal Court. Not the first time I've served on a jury, but it was the best experience!
