The FBI raided Cohens office and hotel room on Monday, reportedly seizing documents and bank records about his dealings with the adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who Cohen paid $130,000 as part of a non-disclosure agreement concerning an alleged affair with Trump.
The Justice Department said on Friday that Cohen had been under criminal investigation in New York for months because of his business dealings.
