The rabid conspiratorial right are upset with Trump because they believe there is no chemical warfare, only elaborate fakes meant to provide "the establishment"/globalists with excuses for military intervention.

Some of the conspiratorial left buys into this evil "establishment" stuff also, especially those who listen to RT and others pushing Kremlin disinformation. Just about everyone else, though, thinks we needed to do it, including most of the left. So Trump gets a rather scary bump. Not that he didn't expect it.
