ABC poll: Trump approval hits highest mark since first 100 days in office

President Trump in a new poll hit his highest approval rating in the survey since his first 100 days in office.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll finds 40 percent of respondents approve of the job Trump is doing in the White House. Another 56 percent disapprove of Trump's performance, however.

A majority of Americans living in rural areas, 59 percent, approve of the job Trump is doing. Fifty-three percent of whites also say they approve of Trump's job performance.

Sometimes, I think we at DU can forget that there are literally millions of people who think positively about Trump.

My view is - the better we can understand that reality, the easier it will be to do something about it.

Putting one's head in the sand (like saying "it isn't going up" in response to a poll showing that it is) can be less than productive.

I know it's fun to just post about what a buffoon Trump is - but I think we owe it to each other to do more.

DU is an amazing place filled with wonderful and thoughtful people - let's make the best use of our collective resources to work together towards our common goals!

"Trump job approval slips 4 points to 39 percent in NBC poll"

So, by your logic, we should be ecstatic over a poll that says Trump's approval is dropping. From, oddly, the same source--The Hill.

Or maybe we should simply be aware that, Rasmussen aside, Trump's poll numbers fluctuate in a narrow band, and movement within that band is not reason for panic or celebration.

Democrats & liberals have been demonized to the point that in a recent election, Alabama, white women were on national TV lamenting the fact that they had to choose between a child predator & a democrat. Moore got 48% of the vote! WTF? That is what the dems are up against that they continue to ignore.

With the surge of young voters coming I'm hoping it will be enough to offset the old hate filled dinosaurs until they go extinct.

He was able to do what both Shrub and RMoney were unable to achieve (as similar very wealthy men) when both tried to "dress the part of the common man" (in jeans, cowboy boots, etc).

In the case of Drumpf, the ill-fitting suits, too-long tie, and tacky baseball cap on his head seemed to do the trick.

Specifically regarding that article's focus about the ongoing investigations and how the vast majority of Americans agree with the Mueller investigation.

This part of the poll should be most notable -

A majority, 61 percent, has an unfavorable view of Trump "as a person," according to the poll.

Just 32 percent of respondents say they have a favorable view of Trump as a person.

Just hit 50% in the Rasmussen Poll, much higher than President Obama at same point. With all of the phony stories and Fake News, it’s hard to believe! Thank you America, we are doing Great Things.

Between the lines: Rasmussen's most recent numbers indeed show that 50% of voters approve of Trump, but RealClearPolitics' polling average puts his approval rating at 42.5%. Their average approval rating for President Obama at this point in his term was 48%.

Two other big-name polls were released today, showing good news and bad news for Trump and his party in equal measure:

An ABC News/Washington Post poll gave Trump his highest approval rating in a year at 40%. Americans view his handling of the economy relatively evenly — and his approval rating in the Midwest jumped to 48%, thanks to his tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum.

Yes, but: 56% of Americans disapprove of his performance as president.
And there's this: "His average approval rating after 15 months in office (38-57 percent approve/disapprove) is the lowest on record in polls dating to the Truman administration."
