I found this one yesterday. I forgot to post it.

Are there any non-citizen immigrants here ? The President might need a new wife...

And these attacks on immigrants really do send me over the edge. Who among us doesn't come from immigrants to this country?? We are - by definition - a nation of immigrants! I often think of my relatives who emigrated to this country - and it doesn't go that far back. My mother used to say that they "came over on the last boat."

My mother's parents - my grandparents - emigrated from Poland. Both of them arrived young - as teens - and met and married here. My grandfather became a citizen early, they made him a citizen and sent him to France to fight for this country. My grandmother became a citizen somewhat later as I understand it - since I remember hearing that her first vote as a citizen was for Lyndon Johnson. Would she be welcome here now?

My Dad's paternal grandparents came here from Ireland - his grandmother as a little girl and his grandfather as a young man - and they met and married here, too. And, from what we hear now, the Irish weren't always welcome back then - but they came and stayed and raised a large family, including sons, both my grandfather and his brother joined up and also fought in France for this country during "The Great War."

My paternal grandmother's family was here much longer - arrived from the Netherlands in the 1600s. But if it wasn't for immigrants, I wouldn't be here now - and the same is true for most everyone I know. And I'm very proud of them and the successful lives they made for themselves. And others deserve that chance too, no matter where they come from.

End of rant, LOL. And thank you, my friend, for all you contribute to our DU community here! Your posts are terrific and, as you can see, very popular!

We all are immigrants. At a time or another, there is certainly an ascendant who moved to another place

My pleasure to contribute and make you smile.

I'm used to dig up, it is generally law stuff. Sometimes it is funny, but mostly, is serious, fastidious, a bit boring...

However, don't misundertand me, I love it.

And people - like this current administration - seem to have forgotten that their families were immigrants, too - maybe even among the groups who were unwelcome at the time. My family was close enough that I remember.

And of course I enjoy your posts! So many are humorous and we sure need as much humor that we can get right about now!

As for how I am? Apparently winter isn't over yet here in the North Country (New York). The snow has mostly melted except for the shady areas and the biggest snow piles (we had four serious snowstorms here just last month!), but we're currently awaiting an ice storm - sleet, high winds and at least two inches of ice are predicted for the rest of the weekend. I keep taking my dog out one more time and it looks like it's started. So much for Spring weather here in New York...
