House fails to pass constitutional balanced budget amendment

WASHINGTON, D. C. - It's not often that Champaign County GOP Rep. Jim Jordan agrees with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

But the conservative co-founder of the House Freedom Caucus on Thursday joined Pelosi and other Democrats in declaring that a proposed balanced budget Constitutional amendment on the House of Representatives floor was "a joke."

The measure - which needed a two thirds majority to pass the House - lost in a 233 to 184 vote. Nobody thought it had a chance to become law or even pass the Senate - which defeated a similar measure several years ago.

2. Great news

This would have been aimed at hurting the poor, disabled, and anything that helps this nation here at home. They would have filled the budget full of pro-rich crap and screwed everyone else.
