So he's resigning because he doesn't want to be a "weekend dad." And he's feeding us this crap after spending the last 19 years in congress being a "weekend dad."
If he treats his family the same way he's been treating most American families, his wife and kids are screwed.
Ryan's chief goal has been to totally destroy what he calls "the welfare state." That means he wants your Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and every other government benefit that people have either earned, or need to stay alive.
But Paul Ryan's guru is Ayn Rand, and to her, (and Ryan), need is not a claim. So I guess we're supposed to just let poor children, and physically or mentally disabled people starve and die?
Good riddance, Paul Ryan. Your philosophy of government sucks. And truth be told, trying to implement your demented philosophy makes you a miserable human being.

If only the rest of his corrupt criminal Republican Party would follow his lead and go on the lam.

(115,950 posts)When a politician leaves office because he wants to "spend more time with his family," it means either that he's in legal trouble or that he knows he's not likely to be re-elected. If Ryan hadn't wanted to be a weekend dad he'd have found a job where he could have been with his kids when they were small. Now that they're teenagers they probably just find him embarrassing.

(15,075 posts)These congresspeople work hard. They are entitled to their time off to rest, recuperate, and prepare themselves to "move the country forward."
Seems that the rest of us are going to have to accept the fact that we are the peasants, -- the worker bees. Republican voters are willing to accept their servitude. Must be something wrong with the rest of us.
