A Friendly Reminder, GOP

With today's news that Trump’s legal team is “prepping” him to talk to Robert Mueller, the term “perjury trap” was immediately resurrected by the usual suspects who show up on the news shows to spin Trumpelstilskin’s fake orange straw into gold.

First of all, there is no such thing as a “perjury trap”. You either commit perjury or you don’t – i.e. you either lie or you tell the truth. It’s pretty simple stuff. Given your “pResident’s” track record when it comes to truth-telling, I appreciate your anxiety. But this insinuation that Mueller is out to trick your esteemed leader into lying – something he does all day, every day, without any need to be tricked into it – is beyond amusing.

Besides, doesn’t your “pResident” have the best words? Isn’t he the smartest guy in the room? Doesn’t he have a higher IQ than anyone on the planet? So relax, guys – he’s got this.

But here’s the more important point: I would remind you that Hillary Clinton testified before the House Select Committee on Benghazi for almost eleven hours. During that time, she answered every question posed, without once claiming a lack of memory about key facts, or failing to furnish whatever minute details were asked for.

She never once hesitated to give testimony, nor did she – nor did any Democrat – ever express any concern about being “tricked” into a “perjury trap”.

If your pResident is so stupid, so unreliable, so vulnerable to being “tricked” into perjuring himself, the big question is: Why did you put him in the Oval Office in the first place? Should a man who can’t be trusted to answer Robert Mueller’s questions be trusted with governing a nation?

But yeah, you can avoid it by simply telling the truth.

A perjury trap is when a prosecutor calls you before a grand jury and asks questions for the sole purpose of later prosecuting you for perjury.

Proper questions have to be pertinent to an ongoing investigation of a previous crime or crimes. Otherwise it's a form of entrapment.

The usual suspects keep trotting out the "perjury trap" nonsense as part of their effort to portray the investigation as a sham. To them, Donnie is completely innocent and there were no crimes, therefore all questions must be perjury traps.

It's a ridiculous claim, of course.

If mueller questions him for more than an hour drumpf will probably lose his shit and admit everything just so he can go home to his two scoops.

Bring up the term Perjury trap, just like only the guilty use the 5th to not answer, along with other excuses for not answering questions. I still don't think he'll go through with this interview without more obstructions, and delaying. Its interesting how the people on the right want to claim a perjury trap when it would only apply to a liar who can't tell the truth, and be honest. If he were honest they would never be bringing this up, so they know he's corrupt.
