Men and women of the National Guard, when not training or called up for duty, are holding down regular jobs and/or attending college.
They are mothers and fathers, our family members, coworkers, next door neighbors.
Taking them out of their regular daily routine to satisfy the crazed ideas of an insane President will be disruptive in so many ways, to so many people;
socially disruptive, and economically disruptive to them and us.
Here in Albuquerque, N.M. the local news said it could take away 75 men and women from our already understaffed police force.
Just my 2¢.

(6,324 posts)They wont deploy full units. They will determine what structure they need and send out a call for volunteers in those MOSs and grades.
Thats how all previous missions on the border stuffed by the NG have been done, going back to the 90s at least.

Sadly, I suspect a lot of white wing Guard will volunteer.

(34,195 posts)There was no volunteering involved.
They were told when and where to show up.
Period.
And that's why A.P.D. may be shorted 75 members.

These kinds of missions are nothing new, and the way they staff them will not be any different.
One reason they will do it that way is that it will allow them to specify certain skill sets, like looking for Spanish speakers.

(34,195 posts)It may be as you see it.
That's not how the local police department says it will be.
But I'm not going to debate the issue further.
As I said, we shall see.

(6,288 posts)I fail to see the urgency of calling the NG to the thousands of miles long US/Mexicoborder.
Why are they being called there?
Is there a National Disaster? A war?
Will they have ground to air artillery to stop planes flying overhead?
