A Republican lieutenant governor candidate on Tuesday softened his stance that women who get an abortion should be punished if it is ever criminalized in Idaho, a day after saying the punishment should include the death penalty.
Prosecutions have always been focused on the abortionist, said Bob Nonini in a statement. There is no way a woman would go to jail let alone face the death penalty. The statute alone, the threat of prosecution, would dramatically reduce abortion. That is my goal.
Nonini first raised eyebrows on the divisive social issue during a Monday candidate forum in Moscow hosted by the conservative Christian podcast CrossPolitic.
There should be no abortion and anyone who has an abortion should pay, Nonini said.

They want you to ask for permission to have sex, also they want to have sex with you and since no woman in her right mind would do that, they are pretty pissed.
I wish other con men would be this honest, that way the IDJITS that vote for them could see

(2,795 posts)torn to pieces with an AR15. A person who has an extended family who loves them, friends who love them, maybe are the star of their football team or school theater.
I'm sorry, but a ball of cells or even a 12wk old fetus isn't loved by many, depended on by many. It's a living organism inside a uterus and sometimes means nothing to anyone. But that life is priceless in the eyes of the Christian conservatives. But once outside, if that life is taken by a gunshot - why that's just the price of freedom.
This obsession with the unborn and the total lack of compassion for the living child is so fucked up

Im not imagining this; wack jobs Ive worked with and come across have said as much to me.
Ill just laugh at them to their faces but that a sizeable minority of the population feels this way is disturbing, to say the least.

(52,416 posts)ann coulter should have been shunned like a pariah after those calls for violence and similarly outrageous comments.
but the media decided long ago that outrageous left-wing statements are unamerican, criminal, career-ending, unforgiveable sins; while outrageous right-wing statements are entertaining, insightful political analyses that grab many eyeballs.
so the early cries for violence against lefties that once only people like coulter dared to utter in public became normalized.
to the point that a presidential candidate could say such things and hardly suffer from it, rather than instantly being disqualified.

(17,984 posts)I don't know if that is because the MSM really believes those remarks to be insightful or just good for ratings. However, I will agree that they caused enough damage over a long enough period of time that it allowed for the normalization of the crap tRump spews.
The question in my mind is, How do we regain some control and put those statements back in the category of "clearly a minority view"? So far we have had two mini-revolutions that have regained some control: MeToo and NeverAgain. I call those "mini-revolutions" because the scope of each is limited. They have worked extremely well, but I fear we have a long way to go before we can drive the entire RWNJ narrative back under its rock.
