USPS delivered my package from Amazon today, Easter Sunday

I'm very surprised. I thought Easter was a federal holiday?

1. No Easter isn't a federal holiday

The Postal Service used to refrain from Sunday deliveries unless the sender paid extra.
But I guess that has changed now because so many people are only home on Sundays any more.

since federal holidays fall on weekdays. I really thought Amazon had it wrong when they kept sending alerts about my package arriving today.

2. Some in the government always have work to be done on time,

unlike many of the members of Congress and the WH who always seem to be on vacation or getting nothing done.

3. Easter is not a federal holiday. It always falls on Sunday, of course,

so federal offices aren't open anyhow. Easter Monday is also not a federal holiday, although that's the day of the WH Easter Egg Roll.

4. You sure it was a USPS delivery person?

Or was it perhaps a contractor?

Most large sorting centers are open today (they pretty much run 24/7/365) and street deliveries are often handled by contractors on Sundays and holidays

10. I didn't see the person, the package had been sitting

on my porch for 5+ hours. But Amazon provided a USPS tracking number. Does USPS use contractors??

Ordered something from Amazon that was delivered by a person in a private vehicle. The package had a usps label.

5. If you have Amazon Prime, it gets delivered on Sundays and holidays too. nt

6. My order from Amazon shipped via USPS today

and is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Amazon is usually accurate on projected delivery dates. I thought USPS was closed on Sundays, but on Easter Sunday? We are clearly missing something here (at least I am).

7. Amazon has a contract with the USPS to deliver on Sundays.

And as others have noted, no, Easter Sunday is not a federal holiday.

It IS a Holy day, however.
