GOP strategist warns Trump to get good legal help now, because the storm is coming

Republican strategist Alex Castellanos on Sunday warned President Trump to "get good legal help now."

Castellanos said during a panel on ABC's "This Week" that it is hard to believe that special counsel Robert Mueller "is not going to dig up something in Trump’s complicated financial history to say 'Look, the president of the United States did this and it was wrong.' "

"And it’s hard to believe then that when Republicans lose the House in 2018, maybe by 40 or 50 seats, that House is not going to impeach him," he said.

"And it’s also hard to believe that a U.S. Senate that’s going to be scared to death, though may still be in Republican hands, is not going to take a serious look when it has to deal with this president."

He directed a warning to Trump: "So get good legal help now, because the storm is coming."

Yet many attorneys consider him toxic. Lot's of luck.

they've got all their anti-democratic machines in place and think they will be able to ride it out. I hope they are wrong, because even in this climate we have an uphill battle to wipe the floor with them in the House, and at least keep what we have in the Senate

...if he was, it would sure look like he's planning for a future where lawyering won't be relevant to anything he wants to do.

Congress members to start the impeachment train rolling now. It's their one true chance to save their party, their nation and, possibly, the world. Or, to put it more simply, themselves. Castellanos must not have noticed that Trump doesn't take advice well.

The lawyers he really needs want nothing to do with him, and for good reason.

Because that good reputation, perhaps built up over many years, would vanishe instantly by merely signing on with Trump. The Trump “brand” today means criminality, incompetence and authoritarianism.

In addition, no sane attorney wants the loosest cannon in U.S. history as a client. Whatever time and effort one would invest in defending 45 would be undone daily by that idiot’s tweets.
