Embarassing and mortifying I am related to some one who could utter such a thing.

but that her personality has interfered with her judgement and what she has accepted as information all her life. Same with all those whose radical/reactionary, personality-driven wishes require massive dishonesty to support.

I would have told her that Rachel doesn't attack or insult people, especially high school students whose school had a mass murderer running around their school. Rachel backs up what she says, not just make untrue and unfair assertions. Rachel is a mature adult, not a childish and petty person.
