Ending VA and giving it to private insurance companies is really just about treason. Why to so many veterans organizations support the VA when the GOP is open about turning the VA into a profit oriented health care system. In the end there will BE NO CARE fore disabled veterans and they will be forced to use their disability income to pay medical bills. And many veterans cannot work. They are too damaged to hold a job.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE? Trump is determined to change the VA system.

Republican policies helped to bring on lengthen the Great Depression but after pushing
millions of Americans into poverty and unemployment some of the powers that be
built "The Herbert Hoover Institute" @ Stanford University.
BTW I have met and knew about some really good Americans that were republicans
but those days are long gone. Control over much of the media and generations of brain
washing has kept republicans viable and many of our vets swallow the lies and half
truths of the GOP. In 2004 John Kerry who had 3 purple hearts, a bronze star, and
a silver star was labeled a coward and many vets voted for w bush who went AWOL
and avoided service by getting put into national guard units that would never be deployed
to Vietnam.

(10,602 posts)I was a company clerk. The military does not just give them away. Kerry's were duly earned. That election was a travesty just like 2016.

(70,676 posts)Kerry was a real hero and a real tough guy too. His boat was shot @ by a V.C. or NVA
with a RPG and Kerry has the boat go to shore, ran into the jungle and then a small
village (VC friendly), and shot the guy and took the RPG back w/him. He was awarded
a silver star for those actions.
We tried to get them on local TV w/no luck but our local Fox & Sinclair stations
ran a "swift boats for truth" video instead.

Both view the Republican Party as "manly" and Democrats as "pussies" for our inclusion of all people.
It's a macho thing with them.
We don't talk politics.

(2,047 posts)I say this as a Vietnam vet who worked & retired from the aerospace plants in L.A. where every other worker was a vet. Plus, the VA is still my primary medical provider. Finding a Democrat among that crew is exceptionally rare. To be a Patriot, to those guys, is to be a Repug.

(11,119 posts)I left active duty in Jul 1991. But while I was in the military I realized that most service members don't spend their down time watching news and reading newspapers - lots of the I found that I was one of the few people who knew WHY things were happening and not JUST that things were happening...

(25,931 posts)understand what they are doing. They are voting for superficial things, such as which party is the more "manly" (as mentioned above) rather than having any idea what either part actually does once in office.
