I hope and pray shes one of the last nails in the coffin. Make no mistake.
But the exchange in the interview where she talks about walking in the room and seeing Trump, that fat revolting fuck, sitting on the bed and all she can do is say oh look what Ive gotten myself into and then has sex with him is one of the most pathetic things Ive ever heard someone cop to.

(3,181 posts)She's not a hero or a sympathetic character in this story.

Prostitution requires the development of commerce.
There is plenty of ancient pornography.

(22,522 posts)there is a result of rape culture. It is pathetic, but only because it's a symptom of our society's broken attitude toward sex, power and consent.

(3,181 posts)There's nothing in the story that indicates that she was forced to have sex with Donald. She made that calculation or decision out of her own volition, according to her. Why not believe her? No need to victimize her.
WhiskeyGrinder
(22,522 posts)To me, it sounds like at the last moment she regretted her choice to go that far. It's not uncommon, and I think that people who feel like they have to "go through with something" after having "gone so far" are feeling a pressure that shouldn't exist, but does.

(44,274 posts)She was especially bothered by people who say it was a me too situation. Because that diminishes what those women went through at the hands of their abusers.
She was quite clear on all this.
IluvPitties
(3,181 posts)That needs to be respected.

(44,274 posts)and I am a little perturbed by the need of some to judge her or put her in a victim role when clearly that is not who she is.

(3,181 posts)I tend to believe a person when they repeatedly say they consented. Not every woman is a victim of power dynamics or abuse.

(82,383 posts)She had gotten herself into the situation and felt she had to deal with the consequences, which was having sex with him. She said she was not forced and not a victim. But she admitted she did not want sex with him. She just felt like she had to from the situation she had gotten herself into. Why did she think that? She could have left.
treestar
(82,383 posts)She still could have left the room. She seemed to feel she had to. She admitted she did not want to have sex with him, and then immediately said she is not claiming to be a victim.

(3,702 posts)Women who work in the sex industry are in a high risk group...they go missing all the time, end uo murdered, raped, beaten etc. because they are seen as disposable.
Who are the police going to believe...a millionaire white male or a porn star?
You can say "no way Trump was going to hurt her" but his anger is legendary and so is the fact that he surrounds himself with thuggish body guards who have no problem hitting women ( Lewindowsky).
So she had no idea how he would react to her refusal in a private hotel room. Yes it was consensual, but that doesn't mean she wanted to.
She did what she felt she had to do...she knew it would be her word against his.
So yeah, in my eyes she is a hero...she still has privilege over other sex workers who aren't white, aren't cis-female, she is educated and has some resources. But she is still taking a risk, she is still speaking up and speaking out, she isn't going away quietly. Maybe her strength will give other women strength to speak up.

(5,042 posts)I think she wanted more money and TV time and having sex with a revolting famous dude was the way to that. As much as it repulsed her in the moment.
I have to take her word that shes not a #metoo victim.

(24,128 posts)She admitted as much in the interview.
treestar
(82,383 posts)The way she thought she had to have sex with him - no one is saying she is a victim, etc. But there is an observation that she specifically did not want sex with him, but felt she had put herself in that position and was stuck with it.
I suppose men could end up in such a position too.

(14,487 posts)Brave for speaking out, despite threats.
I don't judge her for having sex with him. I am sure since she has a career in the sex industry, her perspective on it is far removed from most of us. I can understand HER being in a situation where she has gone along as things escalated to a point and decided she "might as well" go through with it.
That is not something I would brush off for someone who sees sex as a deep emotional connection you make with only someone you love, but that is not her perspective.
So - hero? No. Brave? Yes. Victim of assault? Probably not. Victim of threats and intimidation? Definitely.

(56,829 posts)Trump and his band of thugs. However, unless she can prove she was threatened by somebody tied to Trump, it's not really going to amount to much, in my opinion. If she has physical evidence (pictures, video) of the two of them having sex, it will likely hurt Trump in the wallet when Melania divorces him and can toss out the pre-nup.
