I want my country back

...no, seriously, I want it back to the days when there were decent stateswomen & statesmen in the office of President and his/her Cabinet. Not the likes of Trump, Mnuchin, Sanders, DeVoss, Sessions, and almost Palin.

I want to the country to go back to a time when the POTUS was dignified, measured, calm, avoided name calling, and knew shit and read shit and was informed and smart, and showed true empathy for those in pain, and did not abuse the office to personally enrich himself.

I want the country to go back to a POTUS who would surround himself with centuries worth of good, institutional knowledge about the important tasks that affect this nation and it's citizens. Back to the time when our political enemy was heralded as such instead of muddying the waters and intending to sell out our nation by whitewashing murderous traitorous thugs intend on destroying Democracy. I want to go back to a time, and have a new time when we can have a President like Obama at the helm.

I want YOUR country back, but with a congress that actually DID something besides obstruct for 7 years. I want a country back where the elected officials aren't bought and paid for by rich corporations. I want a country back where we don't buy EVERYTHING from overseas because the CEOs are too greedy to pay top wages to their employees....I could go on, but you get the gist.

Yes, there were bad thing happening then. But, when compared to what we have now, it seems a pseudo-utopian...the elephant in the room was racism. Somehow, we seem to have gone backward in that respect too....since November 2016, it's just been more out in the open.
