"SNIP.........
(CNN)A 15-year-old who protected his classmates in Florida from gunfire is now in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Anthony Borges is the only Parkland shooting victim still hospitalized after rampage that killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. He was downgraded from fair to critical condition, Broward Health spokeswoman Jennifer Smith said Thursday.
On February 14, after barricading a door with his body, Anthony was shot five times through the door by the gunman. Four days later, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel visited Anthony in the hospital.
.......
As of Thursday afternoon, a verified GoFundMe account for Anthony's family has raised more than $625,000.

(61,720 posts)This is so sad. I hope his body can overcome the damage. So many things can go wrong, but he's made it so far.

Oh no, this IS him I just read it in another post. I hope he pulls through...a real hero, not like some overpaid sports celebrity who catches a ball and makes millions for it.

(19,569 posts)He was put into an induced coma earlier due to an infection in his gut which caused them to remove some of his intestines, but he was still listed as in good condition at the time. I guess he's taken a turn for the worse.
Hang in there kid. Your whole life is still ahead of you and it will get better after all this is behind you.

I'm hoping it's just the nature of the infection and subsequent surgery that lead to his downgrade in condition. Generally, his prognosis (if everything goes well) should still be good even after this procedure.
