Oprah got perfect response from Danish woman on their social welfare state (VIDEO)

Denmark continues to hold the rank as the country where people are the happiest in the world. This Danish woman had a response that shocked Oprah on her thoughts on the misrepresentation of Democratic Socialism a few years back.

The have some elements of socialism (mainly their health care and their tertiary education system) but they they also have robust capitalism in most sectors. They simply do not allow the profit factor to be applied to healthcare or education, which unfortunately our country does. The main difference is that their capitalism is HIGHLY regulated, heavily taxed, aiming for the common good whilst also allowing for a more than adequate profit margin. That is why they not only have higher median incomes, but also FAR better wealth equality than the US. They also have extremely active unions across the board, with very little corruption involved, as there are no giant health care plans or Wall-Street-captured pension funds to fight over.

The Nordics are not democratic socialist countries, as the state does not control the means of production. They are social democracies.

Bernie Sanders absolutely mislabels himself when he calls himself a democratic socialist as well. He doesn't advocate for state ownership of the means of production. I have no idea why he cannot even get his own self-labelling right.

His mislabelling of himself as a democratic socialist also helps to scupper any chance to to some sort of universal healthcare, be it single payer or another scheme(s) and low cost or free university education, as opponents use "oh my god, its commie socialism" to falsely stack the deck for a huge swathe of voters.
