Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused - life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has been working on improving the process to adjudicate sexual assault within the military for years. For example, in 2013, she did this:
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) stood on the Senate floor for hours Wednesday dominating a debate over how the Pentagon should manage sexual assault and rape in the ranks. www.washingtonpost.com/...
So its appropriate that she would respond to a request by the commander-in-chief of the US military to properly adjudicate allegations of sexual assault.

The President has shown through words and actions that he doesnt value women. Its not surprising that he doesnt believe survivors or understand the national conversation that is happening.

The lives of survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse are being shattered every day. If he wants due process for the over dozen sexual assault allegations against him, lets have Congressional hearings tomorrow. I would support that and my colleagues should too.
