Sheesh...
Washington Times columnist, National Rifle Association board member, and prominent Mitt Romney supporter Ted Nugent is speaking out on last week's horrific mass shooting in Aurora, CO, declaring that there were "no assault weapons used in the CO shooting only universally proven sporting & self defense firearms."
Nugent also praised the "brave warriors who saved lives" during the massacre adding, "IF only they would hav had a good gun."

(1,675 posts)Yes, shooting blindly into a crowd would have been such a great idea! And any responsible gun owner would never have pulled their weapon anyway. But this has been said a million times. These arm chair warriors need to go away!

That's why I say no responsible gun owner would draw under those circumstances because they knew what could happen. Now the other side is that there could also have been a yahoo hero wannabe in there that could have caused a lot more people to get killed.

(2,061 posts)There was a reality show called I think, Rockband.
Nuge was in it and listening to him talk was excruciating. He always tried to sound like a big intellectual using large words but what he said didn't make sense. He talked like a teenager with an adults' vocabulary.
If they show it again, take a look when they show nuge.
BTW, I remember when Cat Scratch Fever came out in the '70s. He hasn't changed. Pathetic.
What's that character's name in Living Color, Oswald Banes who said things like, allow me to expose my colon. He was awesome.

(9,186 posts)He is entitled to his opinion. Funny, with all his expertise, we haven't learned of him apprehending one mass murderer, one sniper, one liquor store robber, one armed rapist, one child rapist. Nothing, nada, zip. just another conservative tough-talking wannabe.
But he can sure shoot off his mouth with ignorant brashness.

(15,224 posts)Because none of them thought to carry a gun with them, and tried to shoot Holmes.
This kind of rhetoric is NOT helpful for the people trying to live through this tragedy. I am sure that many, if not all, of the survivors are going to feel some degree of guilt simply for having survived while others perished. It's a pretty standard thing after a tragedy like this. Comments like Nugent's only add to that guilt by asking people to think of the "what if's" that might or might not have even been possible.
He should have ended his comment by praising the brave - the rest was completely uncalled for.
