Prince said of holograms: Thats the most demonic thing imaginable. Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing
it really is demonic. And I am not a demon
.Also, what they did with that Beatles song [Free As a Bird], manipulating John Lennons voice to have him singing from across the grave
thatll never happen to me. To prevent that kind of thing from happening is another reason why I want artistic control.
Justin Timberlake was made aware of Princes words before his Super Bowl Halftime Show in Princes home state. Timberlake said that he would on second thought not use Princes hologram in his performance. It would have been better if Timberlake had simply been honest with Princes friends and family. He ended up using a projection of a hologram. Skating by on this technicality shows that Timberlake never understood Princes wishes. Or maybe he chose not to understand them.
There was a telling exchange between the two musicians about a decade ago. Prince said of Timberlakes hit SexyBack: For whoever is claiming they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left! Timberlake responded quite lamely on Timbalands song Give It To Me: We missed you on the charts last week /Damn, thats right you wasnt there / Now if se-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my shi-i-it? / Dont hate on me just because you didnt come up with it. Now that Prince is gone, Timberlakes call to bring sexy back actually makes some sense. Only Timberlake would not be the man to do it.
Timberlake was rather prosaic to me before his blasphemy on Sunday. His sexy is not Princes sexy or Madonnas sexy. Prince was sexy because he was subversive. Timberlakes clean-cut look now matches the suburban dad he has become. Before that, he had a cretinous boyish air to him.

(18,837 posts)My guess is that a hologram WAS planned, and the public backlash (as well as the media dipping into the archives) for Prince's own thoughts on the subject) squashed the idea.
Wanna pay "tribute" to Prince? Here's one way to do it, without a hologram:

(30,481 posts)Even to go so far as to reference the performance in religious terms.
Division is the way of the day.
Solid performance by Timberlake.
RIP Prince.
Please note the numerous unattributed thoughts of others put forward by the author of this article.
Author is an absolute wreck. Loves to divide and has a clear history of it.
This article was an absolute joke.

Some solid insight from the author.
"Franken has always been an enemy of the worlds people, even when he wooed liberal appeal at home. In the current political climate imperialism and sexual harassment seem to be the only things we can count on."
"We could go on debating whether Franken is really left. I would argue that hes not."
"There is evidence against Franken. The photo depicts a man who can grab what he wants too."
"A Franken resignation would be satisfying but would it be sufficient? "
" I will shed no tears for the imperialist harasser Al Franken. Let his head roll."

(16,104 posts)On an international stage - and the most watched show of the year?
Not to mention Prince is widely acclaimed as the greatest Super Bowl performer of all time?
Very appropriate, very well done - including the entire city turning purple!

(4,573 posts)But the city itself didn't change colors. It would have been really neat if they managed to pull that off live, but alas, they just rotoscoped the image and used some CGI to create the love symbol.
Apparently several people living in Minneapolis rushed outside to see if they'd really pulled that effect off.

(86,005 posts)...Timberlake did no such thing.
On and on about Timberlake 'bringing sexy back' is just as silly.

(5,591 posts)Made me think about just how good Prince was. A fact that escaped me when he was alive, to be honest.
