the most they can do is state the memo is in error or is based on flawed logic.

What they can't do is counter it by releasing the actual intelligence information that was cherry-picked by the Repukes. It is mostly classified and likely HIGHLY classified. Revealing it would result in a prosecution for violating quite a number of laws.
