Trump had been due to depart Washington on Friday but postponed the trip for a day as the government stood on the brink of its first shutdown since 2013. Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill were locked in a stalemate over a funding agreement on immigration, the military and other issues.

(182,883 posts)Officials said Mr. Trump may travel on Air Force One to carry out his constitutional responsibilities, including a planned trip next week to Davos, Switzerland. But it was unclear whether trips to Mar-a-Lago his exclusive club in Palm Beach, Fla. such as the one he had planned for this weekend, would fall into that category.

"Trumps singular major legislative achievement has been a sweeping tax cut that Democrats say will benefit the rich and hurt the middle class. Blumenthal added: He has one accomplishment which is the tax cut. He achieved that with complete party control of both houses of Congress. Talking about infrastructure is fantasy. We have reached the end of Trumps legislative record, more or less. "
Funny how the repugs could get that done, but can't keep the government from shutting down.

Double think, cognitive dissonance, openly lying about their opponents -- to their opponents -- with the most transparently obvious lies.
Fuck them.

(129,491 posts)From what I gather, the "infrastructure" legislation discussions were not revolving around actually CREATING or REPAIRING any "infrastructure" but was more along the lines of the same old tired GOP mantra of - "getting rid of 'red tape' and regulations", with maybe a little tossed in to repair some roads.

I told one of the repug's braindead fans at work he was shooting himself in the foot by backing the repugs, but it was like he was putting his foot over mine, then shooting himself in the foot. Then I changed it to 'no, it's like you're shooting yourself in the head, but first you're grabbing my head and hugging it to yours, then shooting yourself.'
Too bad these mo mo s can't just go and self immolate, and leave the rest of the country alone.

Here we are... AGAIN.
Seems to be a way of life with the Sh le Republicans running everything.
Old song, new words.
Sung to the tune of "On the Road Again"
"Off the Rails Again"
with profound apologies to: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson
Off the rails again
I just can't wait to get to the polls again
The life I love is torn away from me and my friends
And I can't wait to get to the polls again
Off the rails again
Goin' places that I've never wanted
Seein' things that I never want to see again
And I can't wait to get to the polls again
Here we go, off the rails again
Like a band of Gypsies we get dragged down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world start turnin' our way
And their way is off the rails again
I just can't wait to get to the polls again
The life I love is torn away from me and my friends
And I can't wait to get to the polls again, break free
And I can't wait to get to the polls again.
Well, you get the idea.
