Russian-trained mercenaries back Bosnia's Serb separatists

Russian-trained mercenaries are helping to establish a paramilitary unit serving the Serb separatist leader in Bosnia, it was reported in Sarajevo on Friday.

The report on the Žurnal news site, which was confirmed by the Bosnian security minister, comes at a time of mounting western anxiety about Russian efforts to destabilise the Balkans and resist Nato enlargement in the region.

On Tuesday, Milorad Dodik, the hardline leader of the Serb half of Bosnia, staged a military parade in Banja Luka in defiance of a ruling by the country’s constitutional court.

The Žurnal report said that a militia called “Serbian Honour” – which it said had been trained in a Russian-funded “humanitarian centre” in Serbia – was in the process of setting up a paramilitary group to be used against Dodik’s opponents.

1. Putin is already moving in.

This is the whole reason for Russian interference in the US election.

Separate the US from the rest of Europe, NATO, etc. SO they can then take Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus.. looks like even more....

There were anti-Muslim Serbian mercenaries that had fought in the '90s in Jugoslavija actively and proudly and publicly fighting in the Donbas. When they got tired, they retired to Russia with the full public support of Putin. Many are still in the Donbas, of course.

They were the direct heirs of the cetnici that fought against Muslims and staged the first Srebrenica Muslm massacre back in the '40s. They claim the mantle of those thugs.

To point this out in '14 and '15 and early '16 was to be accused of supporting the 'fascists' in Ukraine.

So, what could go wrong? And what, exactly, is the historical precedent for what should be done? Lots can go wrong. And the historical precedent? We'll slap sanctions on some Serbs, I guess. Once there's actual bloodshed and the bodies are piling up.
