Just turned on CNN & 1 of the victim's father was telling Anderson off when he asked about gun laws, same thing happened on MSNBC.

(22,144 posts)The operational approach is that ammo is irrelevant if you don't have a weapon to fire it, and that is where the checks are supposed to be and were done.
Additionally, those kinds of quantities are far from unusual. Discounts start at around those amounts. I ( and every other competitor) have shot 2000 rounds of 12 gauge during a 5 day trap meet.

(11,064 posts)Apparently he's not one of those guys who would think that irrational responses, such as prohibiting 3-ounces of liquids at the airports while the TSAs feel up the passengers, is a good idea.
Why not go for rational responses and stop demonizing all gun owners?

(25,699 posts)We demonize the dumbfucks who dedicate their entire lives and thoughts to firearms and pretend that their narrow scope of interest makes them better people than everyone else.
I.e., gun nuts.

(16,038 posts)that any of the infamous mass killers had any interest in guns beyond their utilitarian value. Most buy their guns during the planning process, not long time gun enthusiasts, collectors, "gun nuts" or competitive shooters.
No, there are plenty in these parts who are demonizing gun owners.

(29,098 posts)They are misinformed and believe what they have been told. Those folks who repeat Republican talking points do so think they are appearing "smart". It's what they hear on the news, in their churches and in their local bars. We are a nation that practices group think. The vast majority of Americans don't realize that the 2nd amendment does not forbid regulation and they believe that there are more gun controls in place than there actually are.

(6,700 posts)were repeating the same talking points I hear from the NRA people.

(22,759 posts)the victims families merely want to talk about their loved ones, grieve and not engage in controversial talk about laws right now...
people deal with their emotions in different ways... many of us want to address our intense emotions about gun violence as a way to deal with our grief... some people want to not even think about those things in their time of grief... we are different and somehow must attempt some respect for each other...
(not to say that some of us aren't irrational and stupid about how we approach this issue)

(22,144 posts)nuclear weapons to be owned by civilians? My uncle's farts don't count.
Can you show us where anyone has argued for crazy people to be able to get weapons.
Can you show me how your hyperbole is going to help anything?
Finally, semi auto rifles are not WMD...but then you already knew that.
otohara
(24,135 posts)If a weapon is designed to shoot off a hundred bullets in a matter of minutes and kills and injures a hundred people, I call that massive destruction.
ProgressiveProfessor
(22,144 posts)If semi automatic civilian rifles are WMD, you have now justified Bush's Iraq invasion, and that of just about any other nation.
That would be something to be sorry for.
