Found out this morning that I have a friend

who lost his house in the mud slide in Monticeto on Monday.

He sent an email from Starbucks.

Ellen is going to have a special show from Monticeto at 3:00 Pacific time today with Oprah.

17 are dead 8 still missing. Hwy 101 is closed until Monday

It is weird to not see co workers from Ventura at work. Parking lots are half full.

No trucks moving on 101

glad he survived. I can't begin to imagine how scary that would be.

bullshit from the religious right about God punishing California for its many sins. Or maybe I've just been fortunate enough to miss such statements.

Even though I personally have no desire to live in California, I've been there any number of times and can readily understand why many want to live there. And the terrible things that have happened recently aren't deserved by anyone.

All the state needs now is The Big One.

The vegetation was dry because of drought.

Then it rained. We are to get more rain next week.

started telling us about the inevitability of the overdue Big One back in the 60's.

When half the state slides into the ocean, would that meet "Biblical proportions?"

Are an awful lot of Democrats 'living on a prayer?'

Kind of scary to think of how many pockets of dirt packed boulders there may be in developed rocky areas.
