Just call the whole thing off and then arrest Mueller and the entire FBI.

(26,308 posts)I realize that all narcissists are delusional, but he seems to be taking it to a whole new, albeit extraordinarily childish, level.

(67,112 posts)like Trump to the presidency. I still think there should be psychiatric evaluations for presidential candidates. We live in a far too fast environment now. Stupid actions can now have potentially lethal results to millions of people in a split second.

(26,308 posts)Definitely the candidate should have to submit to a psychiatric screening and they should also have to pass a test to prove they have an actual grasp on how government works. The way things are now, anybody who can meet the age and residency requirements can run. There isn't even a restriction against felons!!
Additionally, a full financial disclosure and disclosure of pending and in process litigations should be mandatory.
The 'weeding out' process should start before the campaign takes off.
Actually, I think that passing a civics/citizenship exam should be mandatory before someone can file to run for any legislative office. And maybe a requirement that anyone nominated to a cabinet post or judicial seat have proven expertise in the area where they are being nominated. Or am I being too picky?

(67,112 posts)Way back in the beginning these basic requirements worked, but we have gone so far beyond that. It's absurd that an individual like Trump could win, and I would say that regardless of his party affiliation.

(5,815 posts)If that is just his latest gaslighting technique to keep his fans happy. He just routinely says UP is DOWN and GREEN is PURPLE. You can buh-leave him. He doesnt worry about his lies contradicting themselves because his fans just take whatever he says at the time as gospel.
I think he also says those things to self comfort himself, so I guess maybe that is the definition of delusional. The truth is so far out of his comfort zone, he has to rely on his fabrications to make himself feel better. He can live in La La Land and push all those scary thoughts out of his punkin head. Like prison time, loss of his fan base, humiliation and exposure as a fraud and a cheat. When you look at it that way, it is easy to see why he lies so much. La La Land is a much happier place to be, compared to reality.

THREAD regarding: FBI used the Steele dossier to get FISAs

3. (It's worth noting in that previous article that Steele apparently believed that there was a cabal in the FBI *preventing* the dossier from reaching the top, and it also suggests that he contacted @DavidCornDC about its contents. But I'll let reporters sort out those details.)

6. The DOJ lawyers who help prepare the FISA applications take this VERY seriously. Like, even if you had a common-knowledge assertion, like "Country X is a state-sponsor of terrorism," they make you include a cite (preferably two) supporting it. They want every fact airtight.
7. The Steele dossier is "raw intelligence." It contains reporting from third party sources -- meaning it is basically hearsay. So the FBI can't just staple the dossier to a cover sheet that says "GIVE ME A FISA" and be done with it.
8. To use any or all of the dossier, the FBI would have to provide independent verification and corroboration of each fact that would be included in the application. This could mean first-hand witness statements, actual recordings from electronic surveillance, etc.
9. In other words, if the FBI *did* use the contents of the dossier to obtain a FISA, then by definition those contents are true, corroborated, and independently verifiable. Remember that the application is presented to an Article III judge -- a judicial check -- before granted.
10. This does not seem like the road Trump supporters want to be going down...and yet they are. It's so bizarre. And to underscore: To claim that this was a huge conspiracy is ALSO directly implicating members of the judiciary (who could be Republican appointees) without basis.
P.S. In tweet #2 *he* refers to Steele -- I was cutting down this sentence to fit and omitted him as the original referent
