Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAl Franken will soon be FREE to tell the truth about the GOP traitors in the Senate.
He will not be encumbered by the good ole boy network, and I fully expect him to tell us the truth about them.
I will encourage him accordingly and I suggest you all do as well, using Twitter I guess.
This great patriot, this FAITHFUL husband and REMARKABLE feminist has been sacrificed and taken down by the worst traitors and sick fucks this country has ever seen.
I hope he makes them VERY sorry they did.

(3,194 posts)He will adhere to the "code" that the Senators have, and not call anybody out after he leaves.
After all, they were his "friends" across the aisle.

(253 posts)He will not want to look vindictive or petty. Not that telling like it is would be either vindictive or petty. What you can be sure of though is that if he did spill some beans, he would be accused of all kinds of nefarious things by those colleagues whom he might expose, as well as their friends in Congress and the WH. And of course, Faux News will mendaciously go after him with lie upon lie.
He has been a first rate senator, with a great sense of fairness and patriotic duty. I for one will miss him. I will have a hard time forgiving those Democrats who made him the target of their witch (warlock) hunt.

(23,307 posts)I agree with everything you said. I suspect at this point, Al knows he was the victim of a well orchestrated hit job by those who can only be described as traitors. Let's encourage Al to come's back stronger than ever to wipe the floor with these sh!t heads.

(42,694 posts)And if he was, why do DUers idolize him?
He was a good senator, and to the extent there was anything unique about him, it was his willingness to speak up. I doubt he has that much additional to say.

(1,018 posts)for even having a contrary opinion to her about Al Franken (even though she hedge a bit on whether he should have quit). I'm done with her anyway after reacting to the pressure like the rest of them.
Even Al Franken's former Chief of Staff (a woman) said he should resign. You could not be female and possible ask him to reconsider.

(1,018 posts)She was on one of the afternoon MSNBC shows and I cannot even tell you which one. She was dirty blonde? (I have a terrible visual memory), slightly overweight, I'd say mid-40's. Whatever job she had was in the past and maybe even when he was a talk show host. I was shocked, though she defended Franken in many other ways.

(34,439 posts)from having him on.
My prediction is that he will write another book within the next six months and will start making appearances then. Meanwhile he will likely make good on his pledge to be an activist for causes.

(205,213 posts)If you recall, he had Scaramucci on during the same week he'd been making jokes about him! I don't think that Al Franken would go for it, though. He's a real class act - he quit making those kind of appearances (and jokes) for a long while after he was finally sworn in, he wanted to establish himself and be taken seriously. Eventually, perhaps, but I can't see him doing it right away. He has to know how people are feeling - and no doubt he feels the same way, but he's not looking for publicity or recriminations or he wouldn't have left in the quiet and dignified way that he did.

I don't what that to be true, but if that's not it, then WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???
I'm a Smith, and happy to have one appointed as a Senator, but I'd much rather have a battle tested warrior in that seat!!!!

(2,959 posts)Senators from New York were leaders in pressuring Senator Franken. He may indeed have lots of dirt on GOP Senators but it was people from his party that threw him under the bus.
I found their actions highly distasteful and hope to hell neither of the Senators from NY run for any national office.
At least the Senators from my state, CA, were somewhat subdued in their defenestration of Al Franken, Giant Of The Senate.
