Many of you called and/or emailed your GOP reps in the lead-up to the TaxScam bill. As we now know, they ignored the will of the majority of their constituents anyway.
But it doesnt have to end here. Continue to call and write to express your anger.
What the GOP is counting on is that citizens will simply accept whats been done to them and move on, without any real consequence to the Republican party. They are counting on complacency, meek acceptance, and the idea that our anger will subside and eventually fizzle-out, and will ultimately be completely forgotten.
So remind them as often as possible that our collective anger is NOT going away. Let them come to work every single day having to face irate phone calls/messages, and an inbox full of emails telling them what you think of their treachery. In other words, make their every workday as miserable as possible. Tie-up their phone lines, jam their fax machines, and inundate their email and snail-mail bins with well-deserved vitriol.
Dont let it be said next November that the sheep have accepted the TaxScam, and have lost the will to fight. Let every elected Republican know, in no uncertain terms, that you have not forgotten, and will never forget those who sold out their country and their constituents in order to enrich themselves and their wealthy donors.
It is absolutely critical that we ensure that this topic has not been swept under the rug as we head into the midterms. Let them know, right up to election day, that the people they shafted are still pissed-off, and they and their party are now in the voters crosshairs.
What we dont want to hear from the GOP over the next year is that the nasty phone calls and emails have ceased, a sign that the citizenry have timidly accepted being butt-fucked.
This latest example of the GOPs treachery is a weapon in our arsenal it has to be sharpened every day, and brandished in the faces of our enemies at every opportunity.
So keep those cards and letters comin, folks. Let the traitors know that the fight is not over because if they think they got away with this shit-laden legislation unscathed, god only knows what they will be emboldened to try next.

(12,448 posts)I'm in a Blue state, but I'd add to your excellent, EXCELLENT suggestions, Nance. Call, write, nag, hound their offices, call again, even those who aren't from your state. I'm going to torture Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, Bob Corker to name a few. Plus Andy Harris, Maryland's only Republican representative who voted for this terrible bill.

My favorite is the free faxes, which I tend to do in the evening (when fax machines are more likely not busy), but if you're on your smartphone a log, RESIST bot is great.

(37,648 posts)I put it to him.
The tax "cut" bill is going to increase my income taxes, it looks like, because Louisiana is a high tax state (not income tax...SALES TAX...my parish area has hte highest sales tax in the nation! Which I don't get to deduct, now.).
I told him that I recently moved back here after retiring. Now I'm finding that La. is not retiree friendly, and on top of that, he votes to do THIS to the retirees? Why would the state fail to try to attract retirees? Here we are - Law abiding homeowners, with retirement accounts ready to spend locally...and he does THIS? WHY would I stay? Told him I'm packing up my retirement accounts and moving to a lower tax state. (And I mean it. I already didn't like it here. Now this. Hope I can sell my house.)
