Trump celebrates tax bill with creepy, cult-like cabinet meeting

Trump celebrated passage of the Republican tax cut bill with a cabinet meeting that felt more like a gathering of the cult of Trump.

After Trump bragged about doing “a job like no administration has done,” the president asked HUD Secretary Ben Carson to say a prayer. But before Carson started, Trump addressed reporters, telling them to stick around because they “need the prayer more than I do, I think.”

“Maybe a good solid prayer and they’ll be honest, Ben, is that possible?” Trump asked.

Carson proceeded to offer a prayer where he thanked God “for the unity in Congress that has presented an opportunity for our economy to expand, so that we can fight the corrosive debt that has been destroying our future.” The tax bill approved by congressional Republicans will add at least $2 trillion to the national debt.

I'm guessing watching it on video is even more vomit-inducing, but I'm not going to watch. It's incredible a grown man has such a fragile ego that he demands ass-kissing on that scale, and that another man has so little self-respect that he'd do it. God, how I wish two grown-ups were in those offices. Hell, I'll say it - even Dick Cheney had more honour than Pence.

I really really thought that the days of RAYGUN and W. Bush/SHRUB were as low as we could go, SERIOUSLY. I never dreamt it could get like this, even from Day 1 descending on the elevator when I was struck paralyzed with DREAD. He's done this before, having the cabinet members go around the table praising him as a demi-god. He learned that, and apparently thought it was a good thing, from Roy COHN, his mentor, who would throw himself lavish birthday parties at which the participants would similarly deliver toasts of praise to COHN, unashamedly on both sides of delivery and recipient. Since most of the guests were clients of COHN's dirty tricks in the courtroom, the byword was, "If you're INDICTED, you're INVITED!"

But this must all be normal, since our wingnuts tell the radio world they wake up each morning "Thanking God that (TWITLER) is our president."
