Our country is sick and lost

2018 will be a heavy lift considering how many seats are favoring Republicans.

I hope this Tax Scam is unpacked and all its nastiness is revealed to the American public but who knows?

It just seems our Democratic Party is getting steam rolled. We didn't raise enough hell for Garland, we kicked out Franken, and 51 votes now seems the new normal in the Senate.

Not feeling very hopeful this morning and if they kill CHIP then OMG.

Someone please talk me down off this cliff.

Misery loves company, so I hope there's room up there.

The last time I felt like this country was lost, was in the mid 2000's. I am now 51, and again I hold onto the belief that my final days will be elsewhere. I just cannot stand the corrupt, hypocritical ineptitude displayed by such a large segment of this country's population. It truly has become SAD.

Mueller, can't fix it; 2018 won't fix it; nothing traditional will work at this point. We must no longer want what they sell. we must learn to acquire what we need without them. We must thwart their products and services in every situation. Like Bucky Fuller suggested, "Rather than fight them, we must render them irrelevant." We must build a new system that removes all of their holds upon us. It will be a long trudge. I won't see the end, but at 69, I do be I'm witnessing the beginning...

Most people vote on kitchen table issues but I notice that a lot of Democrats want to make the election about Trump being vulgar or a sexist. Those things are all true but most people don't care about that very much. On the other hand saying the Republicans are going to come after Medicare and Social Security to pay for the tax cuts (which is also true), that will have a big impact.

"President Trump’s approval rating is only 37.6 percent.
Democrats lead by approximately 10 points on the generic Congressional ballot.
Republican incumbents are retiring at a rapid pace; there were two retirements (from New Jersey Rep. Frank LoBiondo and Texas Rep. Ted Poe) on Tuesday alone.
Democrats are recruiting astonishing numbers of candidates for Congress.
Democrats have performed well overall in special elections to the U.S. Congress, relative to the partisanship of those districts; they’ve also performed well in special elections to state legislatures.
The opposition party almost always gains ground at midterm elections. This is one of the most durable empirical rules of American politics."

I should add the generic ballot favors us now more than what was in this article.

might of changed everything

Wisconsin elections have been rigged since walker but going there and asking for peoples votes might of driven turn out to overcome the rig

or counting the ballots could of helped

(See, by way of just one example, my recent interview with Wisconsin's Karen McKim, whose public records request finally allowed, just weeks ago, a multi-partisan group of observers to examine paper ballots from the 2016 President election. That audit of several precincts in Racine County, paid for by the residents themselves, revealed up to 6% of perfectly valid Presidential votes went untallied, thanks to flawed optical scan systems used across the state on Election Night and, in much of the state, even during even during Green Party candidate Jill Stein's attempted "recount". Other wards which tallied by hand instead during that "recount" discovered as many as 30% of valid votes went untallied originally!)

http://bradblog.com/index.php?paged=2

Wisconsin was one of three states, along with Michigan and Pennsylvania, where Green Party candidate Jill Stein had filed for "recounts" and forensic audits of voting systems, after the Clinton Campaign declined to heed the pleas for such an audit by computer scientists and voting systems experts who begged her campaign to do so. Stein's post-election effort was largely stymied by Team Trump and various statutes in each of those states. A statewide tally was allowed to move forward in Wisconsin, however only about half of the state's ballots were hand-counted, as municipalities were allowed to carry out their choice of either manual- or machine-tallied "recounts".

http://bradblog.com/?p=12386
After finding an alarming number of uncounted ballots in Racine County precincts during last year's machine "recount" (see documentary filmmaker Lulu Friesdat's alarming coverage of election officials refusing to hand-tally clearly valid votes there during Stein's attempted "recount&quot the volunteers at WIE filed, and paid for, a public records request to examine the hand-marked paper ballots in a number of those wards.

Recently, they were allowed to review those ballots and, as they feared, many perfectly valid votes had gone uncounted by the optical-scan systems both during the original Election Night tally and the so-called "recount" in counties that used the same faulty computer scanners for the second count, after they had similarly mistallied ballots on Election Night.

This is the most craven Congress ever. McConnell is at the top of my list biggest asshole ever. And the democrats have been neutered, or maybe I should say, let themselves be neutered. I'm not confident they'll come back. They haven't put up a real fight for so long, I don't know if they know how anymore. Besides, they'd rather go after their own. I see the Con doing something desperate next November, if he thinks he might lose the house or senate & no one will do a thing about it, because you know, when they go low, we go high. And we follow rule of law, even as they have thrown the rule book in the trash & flaunt it in our face.

My complaint is that the democrats are partly to blame for being the party with no power in government & very few want to admit that. What were they doing when we lost almost 1,000 state seats & governorships? How the hell did that happen? Someone took their eye off the ball. What has been their response to GOP lying & cheating? Let's see, they took impeachment off the table & looked forward. Gee, I wonder how the GOP got the idea they can get away with changing the rules to suit them? If a dem had done what McConnell did with Garland, the whining from the GOP would have blocked out all the noise in the universe. What did we hear from the dems? Not a fucking peep.

I'll always vote & I'll always vote dem, but I'm not kidding myself that today's democratic party will ever hold the GOP accountable. Instead, if they are fortunate enough to find themselves with any influence in the future, my guess is they will play nice & work with the other side, all in the name of healing the nation. And we'll be back in this mess again. If we ever get out.

What were the Republicans doing during this time...hmm...gerrymandering which was possible because of progressives abandoning Pres. Obama in 10. The GOP doesn't care about whining and talk which is what all of you who think talk talk is the answer don't get. When we lost the Senate, we lost the justice. Guess some should have come out and voted right? Everything you describe has to do with voters not supporting the party because they buy GOP bullshit.

They did this to win an election and do what they wanted to with the country. They did this with the help of the Koch Brothers and others like them. It was all planned and executed with the help of the Russian government.

No I am not a crazy tin hat conspiracy person, but this was a conspiracy, collusion if you will. At this point 2018 elections are our only hope, that and continuing to resist and tell our story to those who think they will benefit.

The bad news is, the masses will see a small tax cut in their paychecks the months before the 2018 elections. Then the hammer will fall when they get their health insurance bills and see that these tax reductions are only temporary.

We have a large portion of uneducated people who are voting. Those of us with half a brain have been staying home or voting third party. This has to STOP!
