My take on "the polls."

It's still way to early. Most are not yet paying attention. They don't know he said he wants to be dictator on Day One. They don't know he plans to dismantle a huge number of government departments. They don' t know he's bragged about ending Roe v. Wade and says it's going very well. They don't know what the current trial is about, let alone any of the others. So much else they don't know because the news doesn't cover all the details that we on DU are aware of. All they know at this point is that groceries are more expensive now than four years ago and that they've always voted Republican and that Trump is a Republican.

And speaking of Republican, I'm suspicious that the pollsters are being selective as to who is being polled and putting a thumb on the scale for tsf.

I'm with Colin Jost - incredible that polls say it's tied....but, I will add, skeptical and suspicious of that.

They hinge on measuring "voter enthusiasm" for their candidate. Well, when 30% of your own party consistently votes against you in primaries, even for candidates who have already dropped out, why isn't that considered a measure of enthisiasm, or lack thereof? Democrats seem to have no lack of that kind of enthusiasm for Biden.

I made a drive earlier in the week, and spent a couple of days on business in what has been called "Trump country" in the western part of Michigan. In 2020, right about this time, the rural roads were plastered with Trump posters, banners, flags and bumper stickers. Now, there are very few signs, no flags or banners and apparently, local Democrats have a supply of bumper stickers, those being the only ones I saw. Two places where there were "Trump stores" in 2020 are closed down and abandoned now. My guess is that you can add anywhere from 5 to 7 points to whatever Biden's poll number shows and take away 5 from Trump.

And to to them I will add: On a two hour drive last week from my hometown to Des Moines, Iowa, there were only two Trump signs. TWO!! One of them was homemade.....

This is a drive that in previous elections was littered with Trump signs. At least it didn't ruin my drive this time.
